What is auto roadside assistance?

Our auto roadside assistance* coverage can help you get back on the road quickly and safely when unexpected events threaten to leave you stranded. Whether it's a battery failure, flat tire, or mechanical breakdown, this 24/7 service is just a phone call away.

How does auto roadside assistance work?

Simply call the toll-free number on your Dairyland customer ID card, and our dedicated roadside assistance provider will:

Clipboard and olive shield
Gather your information
Customer service rep with headset
Contact a local service provider
Tow truck
Dispatch them right to you

This means you don’t need to worry about sitting in your stranded car, trying to find nearby towing companies or locksmiths. We’ve got that covered.

These services are available anytime, day or night—even on liability-only policies. And because our roadside assistance isn’t a reimbursement program, you’ll have fewer hassles to deal with after the service is performed.

Is roadside assistance a standalone coverage or add-on?

Roadside assistance is an optional auto insurance coverage you can add to your policy. Whether you have “full coverage” car insurance or only liability, we can work with you to add roadside assistance to your policy today.

We offer two tiers of roadside assistance coverage:

  • Basic: Covers up to $75 for each incident

  • Expanded: Covers up to $100 for each incident

If you’re already a Dairyland auto insurance customer and would like to add this coverage to your existing policy, talk to your agent or give us a call. If you’re thinking of becoming a Dairyland customer, consider adding roadside assistance when you set up your car insurance policy.

What types of emergencies does roadside assistance cover?

Red and asphalt jumper cables

Our roadside assistance covers a range of emergencies and breakdowns, including:

  • Emergency services for a battery failure, flat tire, or mechanical breakdown

  • Emergency supply of your vehicle’s fuel, oil, fluid, or water

  • Towing

  • Lock-out assistance that helps cover the cost of unlocking your vehicle if you lose your keys or lock them inside

  • Extrication assistance that helps cover the cost to pull your vehicle out of a ditch within 50 feet** of a paved road or highway

Keep in mind that your roadside assistance coverage follows the vehicle, not the operator. This means if you experience a breakdown while driving a car that isn’t listed on your policy as having this coverage, your roadside assistance coverage doesn't apply.

How often can I call for roadside assistance?

You can use our roadside assistance up to three times within any consecutive six-month period for each covered vehicle.

When does my roadside assistance coverage kick in?

There's no waiting period if you purchase roadside assistance as you set up your new Dairyland policy. However, if you decide to add it after the policy starts, a three-day waiting period applies before the coverage begins.

Where can I use roadside assistance?

Our emergency roadside assistance is your companion across the United States. No matter where your journey takes you, rest assured that help is just a call away, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
