Auto rental reimbursement coverage

What is auto rental reimbursement coverage?

This coverage applies when your vehicle requires repairs or is declared a total loss after a covered accident. If you have rental reimbursement coverage on your auto insurance policy, we can reserve a rental for you while your car is being repaired following a covered incident. Plus, the coverage helps pay for your rental car, up to your coverage limits.

Is rental reimbursement coverage included with all policies?

No—auto rental reimbursement is an optional car insurance coverage you can add to your policy. If you need to use this coverage now or have questions about adding it to your policy, talk to your Dairyland® agent or claim representative.

How do I file an auto claim for rental reimbursement? What documentation will I need?

If you’re a Dairyland customer, you can log in to your account and submit your claim online, or call us at 800-334-0090. As you prepare to submit your claim, make sure you have photos of your damaged vehicle ready, along with the names, phone numbers, insurance providers, and policy numbers of other involved drivers.

Our claims representatives will investigate the loss and the damage to your vehicle, and determine whether it’s operable.

If your car is inoperable, we’ll typically work with our vendor, Enterprise, to get you a rental vehicle.

Are there limits on rental reimbursement coverage?

Yes—your rental reimbursement coverage includes a daily coverage limit and an overall coverage limit.

  • The daily coverage limit is the most we’ll pay per day to rent a vehicle in the event of a covered loss.

  • The overall coverage limit is the maximum cumulative amount we’ll pay for rental for any one occurrence.

Is there a waiting period for rental reimbursement?

Your vehicle must be inoperable for more than 24 hours due to a covered loss—other than theft. For theft, the payment period begins 48 hours after you’ve notified the police and informed us of the theft.
